Batteau Festival a big hit

Posted on
Today, hundreds of spectators gathered along the banks of the James River as well as in canoes to send off the 24 batteaus on their eight day voyage to  Richmond.  Unlike last year, the river this year was slow and low so the crews will be using their poles to push the flat bottom wooden boats most of the way to Richmond.

The weather forecast is in the 90’s the rest of the week, but if they get too hot, there is the refreshing river to jump into.

Off to Richmond!
