From Washington DC (3.45 hours), Charlottesville (1.25 hour) and points north travel on US-29 South.
- Just past Amherst you will see a sign "Lynchburg Downtown Historic District Rt 210 Exit 9 miles"
- Take the first Lynchburg exit, US-210 West.
- Travel about 3 miles until US-210 ends at US 163.
- Turn left at the light onto US-163 South. Cross over the James River.
- Turn right at the second light onto Rivermont Avenue and travel .3 miles to D Street.
- Turn right at D Street, the FIRST street you come to (NOTE There is NO Street Sign for D Street). Cross over the D Street Bridge and continue to the stop sign (Cabell Street).
- Turn left onto Cabell Street. The Carriage House Inn Bed and Breakfast is immediately on your right at 404 Cabell Street.
- Off street parking is available once you drive through the gate.
From Roanoke (1 hour) and points west travel on US-460 East.
- Exit at Candlers Mountain Road, a left exit.
- Travel to the interchange with Business-29 Expressway North.
- Head north on Business-29 to Exit 1, Main Street-Downtown.
- Travel Main Street through town to the intersection of Main Street and Fifth Street.
- Cross over Fifth Street at the light onto Rivermont Avenue.
- Turn right at D Street, the FIRST street you come to (NOTE: There is NO "D Street" Street Sign) Cross over the D Street Bridge and travel to the stop sign @ Cabell Street.
- Turn left onto Cabell Street.
- The Carriage House Inn Bed and Breakfast is immediately on your right at 404 Cabell Street.
- Off street parking is available once you drive through the gate.
From Farmville (1 hour) and points east traveling on US-460 West.
- Exit at Candlers Mountain Road.
- Travel to the interchange with Business-29 Expressway North.
- Head north on Business-29 to Exit 1, Main Street-Downtown.
- Travel Main Street through town to the intersection of Main Street and Fifth Street.

- Take US-29 North to the interchange with US-460 East.
- Travel on US-460 East to the Candlers Mountain Road exit, a left exit.
- Travel to the interchange with Business-29 North, just past the Days Inn.
- Head north on Business-29 to Exit 1, Main Street-Downtown.
- Travel Main Street through town to the intersection of Main Street and Fifth Street.
- Cross over Fifth Street onto Rivermont Avenue.
- Turn Right at the first street you come to, D Street, (NOTE-There is NO "D Street" Street Sign). Cross over the D Street Bridge and continue to the stop sign (Cabell Street).

From the Lexington (1 hour), Blue Ridge Parkway (1 hour) and points west traveling on US-501 South.
- Turn left onto Business-501 (Boonsboro Road).
- Boonsboro Road becomes Rivermont Avenue at the interchange with Link Road.
- Continue on Rivermont Ave. and turn Left onto D Street. (This is just past the old Jones Memorial Library on Rivermont Ave and right before the Rivermont Bridge going into downtown Lynchburg.) Cross over the D Street Bridge and continue to the stop sign (Cabell Street).
- Turn left onto Cabell Street.
- The Carriage House Inn Bed and Breakfast is immediately on your right at 404 Cabell Street. Off street parking is available once you enter drive through the gate
