Guests LOVE Lynchburg
It’s hard to believe that 45 years ago Virginia adopted it’s famous slogan, Virginia is for Lovers. That slogan was inducted into the Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame on September 21, 2009! Today Virginia has it’s own “Love” sign. Our LOVE Lynchburg is downtown on the James River Heritage Trail at the entrance to Percival Islands Trail just above the James River. Each letter represents an activity that takes place on the trail. On the “L” are cutouts of foot prints representing walking and jogging that take place on the trail. The “O” is covered with bicycle wheels (in the hill city as Lynchburg is known as, the trail is relatively flat and is a great place to bike). The “V” has two canoe paddles a favorite activity around here is canoeing on the James River.. Finally the “E” is dotted with 98 skateboard wheels.
Guests, staying at The Carriage House Inn Bed and Breakfast LOVE Lynchburg! They often take advantage of the trail system that has an entrance at the foot of our street. Joggers often jog the trail and downtown you can rent a bike and ride the trails. There is a skateboard park downtown behind Amazement Square for the more adventurous and if you want to see Lynchburg by water you can rent a canoe, kayak or tub at the James River Float Company.
Other guests LOVE Lynchburg because of its history and they visit our historical sights such as Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest, Point of Honor, The National D-Day Memorial, Appomattox Courthouse or the other numerous historical points of interest. Other guests LOVE Lynchburg because we are close to over 45 different wineries! For those who LOVE architecture wandering through our historic districts is a must. If you are a “foodie” then you will LOVE Lynchburg’s downtown restaurants! For the art LOVErs we have a vibrant arts community. Visit on the first Friday of the month and see more than a dozen galleries open or don’t forget to check out our dance theaters the opera, symphony or our numerous play houses!
One guest that has stayed at The Carriage House Inn Bed and Breakfast numerous times said she loves to come here because there is so much to see and do but she also said that sometimes you just want to get away from the rat race and do nothing. She LOVEs to sit and read a book on our porch or next to the patio or be pampered in our massage and body works studio.
