It’s easy to stay indoors this time of year.  Last week was cold.  Didn’t get above freezing for all week long, but I decided not to let the cold weather keep me from taking a walk on my favorite part of the Blackwater Creek Trail system which is at the foot of our street.  The best part of the walk this time of year are the icescapes that form.

It’s okay to hibernate when it gets cold out side but if you do, you miss the beauty of the landscape that only occurs during the extremely cold weather.  For example you would miss the eerie tunnel with its icicles hanging overhead.    A mile or so beyond the tunnel is the Hollins Mill Dam and if you are lucky enough to be out when it is really cold you’ll see it frozen in time.

Get out and enjoy the beauty of the season and explore my favorite part of the Black Water Creek Trail system.  And while you are exploring that trail don’t be surprised if you see ice scapes this time of year.
